CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

COUTURE highlights PARIS fall 2013

Here we are in the thicke of summer heat, thinking about our upcoming dress-up occasions.  At least what celebs are going to be wearing as Couture Drama for the occasions starting fall.   But then, with all the shifting around with the not so drama, the fashion forward drama, and avant-garde drama, and the wearable drama, it seems that Couture is taking on a new face for a new generation.  Here are some quick looks at Maison Martin Margiela, Frank Sorbier,  VIKTOR & ROLF, and Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture.

Artisry Abound at Maison Martin Margiela Paris Haute Couture:  Birds of a feather flock together with flashes of fresh. Fine fabrics and rich embroidery carry an exquisite beauty. At times casual moments peak beneath the more attention worthy textural pieces. Getting that modern when going artsy feels stylish when purposely paired with jeans. Of course a bit of flair for show is always welcome – so the full face masks beaded in various styles are appreciated… now that they have gotten a flowered run, we love MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA even more.

Circus of Style at Jean Paul Gaultier Paris Haute Couture FW13: All aboard at Rue Saint Martin were in for an over the top treat, as we would come to expect at invitation from Gaultier. Streamlined looks in black transition to colors that are celebrated in various applications. There was quite a statement range with accents like swirls and ferocious leopard print splashes in the mix- and then the hershey’s kiss look. Lindsey Wixson and Anais Pouliot looked like pretty clown dolls, and with all the high hair in a supper sassy chignon, these girls are out to play. Fun times as usual at GAULTIER Haute Couture.

FRANK SORBIER Creates Portrait Pretty for Haute Couture: Step back into an elegant age with Frank Sorbier’s richly detailed scene. Rouching and pleating for volume that commands appropriate attention as darker toned brocades keep things serious and strong. We are romanticized with intense embroideries and lace veil accents, an era of fine fashions that can transform at a whim.  Fit for a queen of the times of treasure in a time of keeping up appearances.

Structured Drama at Viktor & Rolf Paris Haute Couture FW13. This design duo gets back in action with basic black center stage for a very Viktor + Rolf return to Couture. The simply constructed emphasis demands an intriguing attention. Dimensions are crossed with old world nods and elements borrowed from a future time. nThe sandals complement the draped attire offering a philosopher’s style to the formal sophisticate.

Some more couture love coming up for the avant-garde brights at ON AURA TOUT VU and some Valentino gilded spectaculars.   FdmLOVES Couture selects by Brigitte Segura, Written by Sarah A. Freiseis.
