CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

CHRISTOPHER KANE spring 2014 LFW

Christopher Kane clearly spent the summer earning extra credit in the subjects of science and botany as evidenced by his latest experiment.  Featuring a range of clinical, floral pieces with a distinctively grungy feel, the spring 2014 show played out like a cheeky ode to the process of photosynthesis.  From flirty cutouts derived from the imagery of sterilized petals, to sliced one-shoulder tops trimmed with crocodile clips and satin skirts, this guy is always on point.

Clean, clinical lines were key in the show’s sophisticated, classy offering, which focused on sexy tanks, sweatshirts, and cute skirts with colorful appliques in a range of pastel hues.  Keeping in check with the nod to all things botanical were the statement ergonomic petal cutouts outlined in shiny patent that graced tops, dresses, and skirts in engineered lace and pastel solids.

Plunging v-neck dresses in soft pinks and barely-there nudes gave the offering a ladylike feel, with Kane letting his mad scientist shine through towards the end of the show through a range of bold, sparkling floral appliques on black organza silk.  Smart, feminine suits were given a modern upgrade through graphic prints and clever tailoring.

Standout looks were a pair of mid-calf length tank dresses with metal teardrop petal cutouts in mint and lilac, sure to turn heads at your next garden party. Also a hit were Kane’s floaty, white slipdresses with organza pleats in pastel green.

KANE ook a literal approach to the floral theme by splashing the text, “PETAL” across a lilac sweater, paired with a black and purple print below-the-knee pleated skirt.   With an emphasis on flowers’ reproductive capabilities as the key influence behind the collection, the dozens of mirrors surrounding the runway gave a genetic cloning effect as the models sashayed down the catwalk.  Graphic and Fabulous. fdmLOVES CHRISTOPHER KANE spring 2014 LFW selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Khia Mercer.
