CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Chanel Haute Couture Spring 2014

Chanel’s become the most revered brand in France. With couture collections constantly evolving, this French line has too. Creative director, Karl Lagerfeld, presented a modern and futuristic Haute Couture Spring 2014 set at the Grand Palais in Paris. It’s one of the most innovative collections we’ve seen from the brand yet, with crystal-encrusted elbow and knee pads making their spectacular debut.

They’re the most dazzling protective gear to hit the runway that we can remember. With Cara Delevingne opening the show and closing it as ‘the bride,’ it was a really special affair for all. Lindsey Wixson and Joan Smalls also walked gorgeously.

Although taking a leap into the future with cuts and embellishments, the classic Chanel suit wasn’t forgotten about. This time, it’s in pretty pastels like early spring flowers. In fact, these looks all resemble gorgeous blossoms, ready to be picked and placed into any couture lover’s closet. There are some darker, more dramatic numbers, including fantastic feather detailing on a few gowns. To think that someone intricately sewed each feather to make these showstoppers…breathtaking! Cropped tops are not midriff baring, as things stayed a little modest but beautiful with more crystal detailing on torsos. There’s something really special here.

These pieces are gems in color, shape and form. Even with a pair of fanciful trainers, these ensembles are still too pretty, too magnificent for words. It’s like bowing down to greatness. fdmLOVES CHANEL Haute Couture Spring 2014 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
