CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

CHANEL haute couture fall 2013

There’s something in the air this couture season. It seems that designers are starting to create phenomenal pieces that go beyond the red carpet.  Chanel’s Haute Couture Fall 2013 collection is an excellent example of this. Set inside an old theater, designer Karl Lagerfeld showcased his spectacular ” The Old World and the New World” collection filed with so many show-stopping looks, it’s hard to pick favorites. Classic Chanel suits that are tailored to perfection, new hats and more were introduced to an awe-struck audience.

It’s all about the textures here. Tweeds, wools, silks and sequined embellishments are some of the prominent ones. Jackets are mainly paired with matching skirts, and almost every look contains a thick belt around the waist. The color palette stays mainly basic in whites and blacks, but added pops of color are scattered throughout. Prints are magnificent with these new “two-cornered” hats that look like a bonnet’s crazy fashionable step-sister. The dresses and evening gowns are unstoppable. The black flouncy tulle ensemble is exquisite. It’s every bit high fashion gothic with strong feminine undertones. A lot of these pieces switch back and forth to 1920s and 1970s silhouettes with ease.

Stellar detailing makes couture…couture. Breathtaking beading and sequins are intricately woven like they were sculpted, as opposed to sewn. Special attention also has to be given to the footwear that Lagerfeld calls “stocking shoes.” They truly accessorize the outfits without overpowering them with height or chunkiness. What you’re seeing is an enterally effeminate assortment that never falters. Undoubtedly Chanel. fdmLOVES CHANEL haute couture fall 2013 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa
