CHALAYAN AW13 Paris Fashion Week
Refreshingly out of the box at Hussein Chalayan for autumn 2013 in Paris. Sculpturally enhanced ensembles were made for the modernly sophisticated and chic. The London based designer upped the ante this season with a variety of convertible two-in-one dresses that enthusiastically defined the collection.
Starting out with a more casual feel using denim a leather minimalist meet moto worked like a darkly crafted charm. Though simple in silhouette, super wide-leg jeans with an exaggerated cuff were anything but usual. Things up top were a little over-sized too with military nods in wool, quilted leather, and bulky knitted components sometimes asymmetrical in nature.
The collection maintained shapeliness with built-up collars and waved seaming moving right along into color, print, and texturized highlights. A multi-color brushstroke pattern was applied tactfully on slim cuts, for example a skirts or on a peplum-waisted blazer, and a funky street art expression was printed with boldness on a few stunners. Most impressive in this department however were the varieties of wallpaper or peeling paint features with 3D quality. fdmLOVES Chalayan selects from fall 2013 by Brigitte Segura, written by Sarah A.
