CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

backstage beauty: Dolce&Gabbana fw13 + runway highlights

Dolce&Gabbana channeled the church of creative mind when fashioning the collection for Autumn/Winter 2013. The highly revered design duo behind the line, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, are no strangers to the gilded age of opulence. Sicily’s Cathedral of Monreale was at the base of their inspiration in all its glory. Some of our favorite models including Karlie Kloss, Kasia Struss, Ginta Lapina, Kayley Chabot, Mila Krasnoiarova, and Katya Riabynikina walked as luxe ladies.

Gold worship and lacy turned racy became elements threaded with scandal. The proper theme captured imperial domination, leaving a seriously sexy impression in red. Byzantine and Venetian mosaics even played a printed part on many ensembles, and even the icons made a special appearance the show. Adorned with crosses and crowns, not to mention twists on other altar objects, the collection was indulgently spirited.

The exquisite style could not, and would not be complete without the glamorous Gabbana maquillage by makeup guru Pat McGrath. The creation resulted in an enticing look that mixed together opulent heritage with the brand’s refined composure. The dark sensual combination of the brand’s beauty’s all black Intenseyes Mascara, glam liner Intense Liquid and Crayon Intense eyeliner, emphasized the delicate luxurious nudity of the Smooth Eye Colour Quad eyeshadow in Desert, a look created to accentuate and reflect the ensembles.

To achieve that radiantly flawless coverage McGrath used Perfect Matte and Perfect Luminous Liquid Foundation, as a base, blending small quantities of both foundations together and gently applying them outward and away from the face, starting from the nose cheeks and chin and moving to the forehead. She illuminated dark spots and concealed imperfections with the best-selling Perfect Matte Concealer, and perfected the look with the Perfect Finish Powder Foundation to give the skin lasting brilliance.

The look followed with a bold combination of the Classic Cream Lipstick in Ultra and Amethyst and was emphasized with the Precision Lip Liner in Ruby. To tie together the captivating look, the models trended the Intense Nail Lacquer in Nude, for one final effect of evanescent sophistication. The look was only the beginning to enhance the beautiful show Dolce&Gabbana put forth at Milan Fashion Week. fdmLOVES Dolce Gabbana fall 2013 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Sarah Freiseis and Julia Paulesco.
