CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Ann Demeulemeester Spring 2014 PFW

Big accessories can either make or break a collection, but in this case, it most definitely makes it. We can’t stop staring at the big mesh hats featured in Ann Demeulemeester’s Spring 2014 line. It sets the darkly romantic mood resonating throughout. As the hats dipped over eyes like veils, the clothing stayed just as dramatic and oh-so-mysterious. Loving the vibe.

There’s a sense of Victorian-era influences in many of these pieces, especially in formal motifs on fabrics like silk and velvet. Art nouveau patterns are gorgeous on everything from tops, pants to nude tights and sleeves. Colors stay dark in black and navy shades, while pops of bright red seduce. The cuts are loose, never slouchy, and there’s an overall sense of femininity. The flocked velvet looks are particularly stunning, enchanting for a night out on the red carpet for sure. Florals and stripes mesh beautifully, especially on a long sleeveless tunic ensemble. Perfect usage of leather is shown on the waists of skirts and tights, acting as fantastic ‘belts.’ Perfect.

The fine details throughout this set are amazing. From dramatic headpieces to rocking ankle boots, everything is truly flawless from head to toe. Who needs pastels for spring? This line proves that staying a little dark all year round is key. fdmLOVES ANN DEMEULEMEESTER Spring 2014 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
