CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Alice Roi Spring 2013

90’s street got chic thanks to the Alice Roi Spring Summer 2013 collection. Jumbo-size pockets got a graphic touch by having pressed leather-fronts or being outlined. A slouchy yet slim approach added relaxed ease to the strong contrasting hues. A cool color range consisting of icy blues, whites, and black, brought modern minimalism within the overall silhouette. Pairing the looks with bright-white studded heels shows that you can’t take the girl out of the city. Rather than becoming restricted to the (gasp!) power-suit, Alice Roi wants to bring the businesswoman outside of boardroom boredom.

Imagine just taking your lax (but still luxe) pieces such as the silk crepe tops and billowing trousers, then slapping on some heels and sprinting out the door. No more time wasted trying to suffocate yourself in dreaded and restricting skirt suits. Also, the belts slung on the hips inserted ease in just the right places. Whether you’re rocking rip-stop pieces or softer fabrics-Alice Roi ensures that you will evoke power.

As the season’s comeback kid, (or rather designer) Roi is here for the taking. The CFDA Perry Ellis Award and Cooper Hewitt Design Award nominee is no stranger to seeing her designs within the chic circles of her hometown-New York City to be exact. Taking a brief break, but better than ever Alice Roi has not only relaunched, but also revamped the brand since catapulting her collection in spring 2000. First garnering attention from Kirna Zabete, since then Roi has caught the eye of a slew of other stores such as Barney’s, Louis Boston, Bergdorf Goodman, and Fred Segal. If Spring Summer 2013 is any indication, Alice Roi is definitely ready for round 2. Alice Roi Spring Summer 2013 Written by Mary Anderson.
