CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Alexis Mabille Spring 2014 PFW

We’re seeing blue. It’s not because we’re sad, it’s the lovely shade predominantly used in Alexis Mabille’s Spring 2014 collection. And boy, does this line soar to new heights! Directly inspired by Rosie the Riveter, this set gives a 21st century upgrade to the classic 40s representation of female empowerment. Instead of a rough ‘n tough factory worker, this Rosie is a sexier pin-up girl, not afraid to show a tough attitude and some skin. Lingerie by Dita Von Teese is also featured here. Lady’s a vamp!

Things start out pretty basic in khaki numbers. A jumpsuit in washed silk, revealing a Von Follies bra, puts a sexy spin on this ‘factory worker’ style. As things progress, more skin is shown, but never without gorgeous embroidered crystals and lace. Mini shorts are a fun 40s throwback, a look Rosie would sport for sure. As the color palette switched to a heavy blue, the real drama came out.  Beautiful dresses in short, medium and long styles are simply breathtaking. A flowy evening gown ensemble moves with grace and beauty on the catwalk. The buttoned collar give it a romantic Victorian feel.

Another gown in mustard yellow is given a cute Southern kick with sassy cowboy boots. In fact, those boots are used elsewhere, giving the whole collection an Americana-heavy feel. A real gem of a set. fdmLOVES ALEXIS MABILLE Spring 2014 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
