CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

ALEXANDRE HERCHCOVITCH aw13 NYFW

Is this collection blooming or just a dry drought? We’re going with a flourishing WOW.  The ALEXANDRE HERCHCOVITCH fall 2013 collection at Milk has been another triumph for the intellectually intriguing Brazilian designer we like to call, Herch.  Flowered,  draped (softer),  corsets with a twist,  and a little pattern whimsey all helped create the mood of modern romanticism.

“Flowers, flower petals, and the way flowers slowly die and the petals fall apart,” Herchcovitch named his inspiration for the collection this season. Manifesting flawless original silhouettes that were enticingly fresh and maybe at times not practical but truly appreciated,   considering the fall collections this season has had a cast of moody undertones. A set of intricately constructed dresses strutted down the runway with overstated peplums in unexpected places on the female form in poppy reds, ivory, and slate.  Structured silk skirts, pants, and tops in solids and artsy patterns in tropicals and florals mixed it up to forward fun.

One of our faves was the ivory and black striped silk satin dress belted at the waist with an undone side made to look peeled.  As the collection progressed, looks had tops folded over as faux peplums to give the notion of a (dying) flower in a Herchcovitch’s artistic point of view. Model faces were wrapped in extra fabric towards the end adding a slight theatrical touch but still romantically femme.  A definite burst moment was the icy sleek blonde model in the ivory satin number with an abundance of ruffles on the waistline and white sheer fabric over her radiant muted face.. so drama.

With a front of row of fashion A-listers from Leigh Lezark of the misshapes to Patricia Fields and Fern Mallis, Alexandre Herchcovitch keeps surprising us, and deserves another round of applause. Thanks for the Innovation. fdmLOVES Alexandre Herchcovitch selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Anthony Pedraza.
