CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Alexander McQueen Spring 2014 PFW

Women of great strength and spirit come to mind when taking in the Alexander McQueen Spring 2014 collection. In fierce reds and blacks, designer Sarah Burton combined one part warrior goddess and one part African tribal princess together beautifully. The results are fearlessly powerful. Odes to Lee Alexander himself continue to ring true, as this is another line he would warm-heartedly approve. Lines feel harder, less romantic here, and it’s quite perfect.

Intense leather harness bras and red and black kilts ease effortlessly into amazing tribal evening gowns with flouncy feather details. There’s an obvious edge running through this collection, but it leaves such a lasting impression. Gladiator influences continue in black and maroon leather numbers, with gold helmet-like cloche hats fully embodying this female warrior. Several white pleated looks feel gorgeously soft and feminine, but they never clash with the fierceness they’re surrounded by. Checkered dresses and skirts pop with such flair, especially in cropped variations. Too good.

A black and white feathered dress ensemble is something really special. Long horse hair skirts in black, royal blue and red styles are exquisite. The McQueen muse will always be one that possess great power. Bow down before her. fdmLOVES ALEXANDER MCQUEEN Spring 2014 selects by Brigitte Segura, written by Allison Ripa.
