CURATED LUXURY LIFESTYLE FASHION ART and WELLNESS magazine NYC curating good vibes by BRIGITTE SEGURA

Sheila Johnson – a SCARF fresh for the season

Now that the snow has officially melted,  treat yourself  to a bright Italian made piece from the Sheila Johnson Collection for Spring 2013. Dubbed “Contes: An Account of a Woman’s Journey” the stunning scarves will transform you into a mobile art form. When cascading around your neck, it appears as a swirl of colors that will definitely stand out.  Once you open it up, you’ll uncover one of Johnson’s digitally printed photographs that harkens back to her travels across Haiti, Uganda, and Rwanda.

This line not only gives you a happy bright vibe, it showcases fashion with a mission, as part of the Spring 2013 funds will go towards Donna Karan’s Urban Zen Foundation division, the Haiti Artisan Project.  Check out some of our favorites:

A true renaissance woman, Sheila Johnson is an entrepreneur, artist, and philanthropist who adapted her talented eye into the world of fashion. Johnson is also a chair for the Parsons the New School for Design NYC Board of Governors. Extending her generosity into fashion, she backed The Sheila C. Johnson Design Center and also kicked off a scholarship which benefits those who have great promise in fashion, but may lack the resources. Initially starting within the entertainment industry, she co-founded BET Network, and is currently a film producer whose 2013 film The Butler will feature a few of the hottest names such as Oprah Winfrey, Robin Williams, Forest Whitaker,  and Jane Fonda. Not stopping there, she is CEO and Founder of Salamander Hotels and Resorts, and owns a trio of Pro sports teams in Washington D.C. (The Wizards, The Capitals, and The Mystics).  Sheila Johnson scarves not only take us to a destination,  you’ll get noticed with the fresh color combos for the new spring season. Written by Mary Anderson.

The scarves are available at Sheilajohnsoncollection.com, Neiman Marcus, and Urban Zen.
